The MPhil Project Management Programme is a two academic year programme. Within this period, students are required to pass all courses and obtain a minimum of 39 credit hours before graduating. Students who already have a Masters degree certificate in a Procurement Management related field will be deemed to have satisfied the 36 credit hour requirement.

Students will also be required to take 16 compulsory modules relevant to the award. These 16 modules are structured such that, 6 examinable and 1 non-examinable modules are taken in the first and second semesters of the first year. One (1) module, the research module is taken in the first semester and continued in the second semester of the second year. In the final semester of the second year, students will be required to continue their research work/dissertation with a series of seminars.

The prerequisite for admission to the course is for:

This section recognizes three (3) categories of candidates.

  1.  Applicants with Master’s Degree unrelated to Project Management
  • Applicants shall be admitted to MPhil Project Management First Year after an Interview Session.
  • After the first year, the candidates shall AUTOMATICALLY move to MPhil Second Year after:
    • Achieving a minimum of 70.00 Cumulated Weighted Average
    • Submitting a researchable thesis proposal and workable programme which are acceptable to the Department.
  1. Applicants with Master’s degree related to Project Management
  • Applicants shall be admitted to the MPhil Second Year after an Interview Session.
  • Successful applicants may be required to audit some procurement related courses depending on the applicant’s background and research interest.
  1. MSc Project Management Candidates Transferring to MPhil Project Management:
  • After the first year of the MSc Project Management programme, the candidates shall be required to:
    • Put in an application to the Head of Department requesting a transfer from MSc Procurement Management to MPhil Procurement Management.
    • Have achieved a minimum of 70.00 Cumulated Weighted Average.

Submit a researchable thesis proposal and workable programme which are acceptable to the Department.

Graduates from the programme on completion will occupy senior level positions as Researchers, Lecturers, and Assistant Lecturers etc. in both private and public academic and research institutions in Ghana with mandates stretching to the management of all manner of projects. Their employment prospects can also be stretched to cover the Policy, Research & Development departments of many public and private institutions and committees responsible for research and innovation of professional groups like Project Management Institute (Globally and Locally) and firms who invest in Research and Development (R&D), Human Capital Training and Development and NGOs.
