MSc. Cost Engineering and Management

Postgraduate Degree
1 Years (3 Semesters)

The MSc Cost Engineering and Management is a specialized postgraduate programme designed to equip professionals with the advanced knowledge, analytical skills, and management competencies required to effectively plan, estimate, control, and optimize costs throughout the lifecycle of projects and assets. In today's increasingly complex project environment, organizations face significant challenges related to cost overruns, schedule delays, resource inefficiencies, risk exposure, and poor investment outcomes. Addressing these challenges requires professionals who can integrate engineering principles, financial management, project controls, risk analysis, and strategic decision-making to deliver projects successfully and sustainably.

The programme is founded on the principles of Total Cost Management (TCM), providing students with a comprehensive understanding of cost estimating, budgeting, forecasting, economic evaluation, project controls, risk management, value engineering, contract administration, and performance measurement. It prepares graduates to apply quantitative and qualitative techniques to support informed decision-making and ensure value for money in both public and private sector projects.

As governments and organizations invest heavily in infrastructure, energy, mining, manufacturing, transportation, and real estate development, the demand for highly skilled cost engineering professionals continues to grow. The programme responds directly to this industry need by developing expertise in cost planning, financial analysis, project governance, digital project controls, and emerging technologies that enhance project predictability and performance.

The MSc Cost Engineering and Management adopts a multidisciplinary approach that integrates engineering, finance, economics, management, and data analytics. Students will gain practical exposure to industry-standard tools and techniques used in cost estimation, scheduling, earned value management, risk modelling, investment appraisal, and project performance analysis. The programme also emphasizes sustainability, innovation, and ethical professional practice to ensure graduates can contribute effectively to organizational success and national development objectives.

By combining technical excellence with strategic financial management, the MSc Cost Engineering and Management prepares professionals to drive project success, improve organizational performance, and ensure the efficient utilization of resources in an increasingly competitive and dynamic global economy.
