BSc. Quantity Surveying and Construction Economics

Undergraduate Degree
4 Years (8 Semesters)

Students are required to take 64 compulsory modules relevant to the award of a BSc in Quantity Surveying and Construction Economics. These are structured such that eighteen (18), sixteen (16), fifteen (15), and fourteen (14) modules are taken in the first, second, third, and fourth years, respectively. During their final year, the candidates undertake a course module that simulates a real-life project and requires them to bring to bear their knowledge acquired throughout their study to address the challenges of the project. Candidates also undertake independent research projects during the period of their final year and produce a report for the research undertaken.

To qualify for the award of BSc. Quantity Surveying and Construction Economics, students are required to pass all courses and complete a total of 148 credit hours.

WASSCE/SSSCE Applicants

Candidates must have credits in three (3) core subjects at SSS level: English language, Integrated Science and Mathematics and credits in three (3) elective subjects according to the following combinations:

Group A: Mathematics and any TWO (2) of these subjects: Chemistry, Physics, Geography, Economics, Technical Drawing and Building Construction.

OR

Group B: Mathematics, Technical Drawing and Building Construction

GCE ‘A’ LEVEL Applicants

Candidates must have five (5) credits at the Ordinary level in the GCE, including English, Mathematics and a Science subject (Physics, Chemistry or General Sciences). In addition, applicants must normally have three (3) passes at the Advanced level in GCE according to the following combinations:

Group A: Mathematics and any TWO (2) of these subjects: Chemistry, Physics, Geography, Economics

OR

Group B: Mathematics, Technical Drawing and Building Construction

Mature Applicants

Applicants must have attained the age of 30 years at the time of submitting the application

At least FIVE (5) credits at the Ordinary Level in the GCE including English Language, Mathematics and a science subject (Physics, Chemistry or General Sciences).

OR

SSCE passes in THREE (3) core subjects (English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science) plus passes in any THREE (3) of the following electives:

Higher National Diploma (HND) in building technology or allied courses.

Candidates may be required to pass a written and oral examination after the pre-qualification exercise.
